Red wing blackbirds insisting upon being heard

Friday, March 27th, 2009

This week I had a visit from a flock of red wing blackbirds. They nearly filled the top of a large tree. Depending upon your perspective, their singing could either be described as a cacophony or a symphony. I’m leaning towards symphony. It was obvious they had something very important to share so I obliged them and opened the channel to listen.

Red Wing Blackbird

Red Wing Blackbird

“We are harbingers of change. Change is in the air. There are dark days ahead, but like us, they will contain  bits of brightness. These days do not have to last a long time, but they will if you do not turn from your current path. Too much focus on evil intentions and swindles. Too much focus on who did what to whom. Get over it and move on. You cannot heal yourselves by dwelling on the negative. You cannot step out into the light by nursing your wounds.”

“Cast aside the dark thoughts, the insecurities the jealousy, even rage and choose a brighter path. You have so much potential. Much has been given to you. Far too often you squander your gifts. Now is the time to see and appreciate all that you have been given. Allow the positive aspects of your life to expand until they fill it completely. As the positive lightness expands, so too will the mood of you and those around you. Allow the light to eradicate the dark and fill your hearts with hope and love.  Rise up and choose a better way. You were never meant to live in the dark. You were never meant to wallow in self pity. That is a total waste of your promise. Dig deep and unearth your strength and wisdom. Now is the time for decisive action. To delay is to risk being swallowed up in oblivion.”

“We realize it is difficult for you to trust and step out of the darkness but it really is the only choice. The alternative is unthinkable. You like to think of yourselves as the superior species, time to start acting like it. You are capable of accomplishing many wondrous things when you open yourselves to the light and hope. Do what you must to heal your hearts and soothe your fears. Pick yourselves up and get moving. We are counting on you.”

Avian Communication: The blue jays have their say…

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

If you’ve been following this blog, you know that my last post was a conversation with possum. In that conversation possum told me that there would be other creatures with messages for human kind. His comments immediately brought to mind the blue jays. They have been unusually plentiful this year and they are huge in comparison to previous years. This despite a colder (and icier) than usual winter. It was clear blue jay was trying to get my attention so I opened the channel to a communication with them. They were most anxious to share their message. This is what they wanted you and me to know:

“We are here to remind you of how much happiness you should be experiencing. As the world seems bleak we have gathered in larger numbers and have expanded our physical shapes to demonstrate to you that the “bluebird of happiness” is right at your door (or window). We are as plentiful as apples on a tree, ripe for picking. So too is your happiness. Do not be deceived by harbingers of doom. Listen to our message and see how abundant happiness is. As we sing for joy and live our fulfilled lives so too should you.”

“It is our hope that through our numbers and our expansion you cannot help but notice that happiness is everywhere. So plentiful that you practically trip over it. We respond to the needs of your world and the overwhelming despair brought us forth. It is as it should be in the balance of nature. Please hear our message and choose the lighter path before you bring darkness to our world as well. We want to see you reverse this trend before it takes over the planet and is much harder to reverse. Act now for all our sakes. We are the blue jays and we wish to spread the message that happiness is right in front of you. All you have to do is notice and respond.”

Animal Communication: Possum has an important message for human kind

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

This year I have crossed paths with a possum several times. Having not seen them in our area previously, it occurred to me that perhaps possum was visiting with the purpose of delivering a message. I decided to sit down, open the channel, and ask possum to communicate his message. Here is what he had to say:

“I came to tell you that change is coming. A new day is dawning and you will thrive and prosper. Even though things may look dark and bleak, I promise you this is a very temporary situation. Follow my example. When you feel stressed, go to sleep. Rest and be refreshed. There is no need to stress and fret. All is well. The sun will still rise again in the morning and set faithfully each evening. Your world will continue to turn on its axis. Forces are gathering to create a great change in your world. Do not be frightened. This change will be wondrous and represents a new age of prosperity and peace. It will not be so for your entire planet, but it will be so for those who believe and are open to receiving.”

“Do not fear those who are different. You all have your special gifts. Allow each other to develop. Nurture and encourage this development. There is everything to be gained from keeping an open and accepting attitude. Even the least of you are deserving. Never forget you are a child of the universe and you were created to do and be abundant in all things. Your joy knows no limits. Allow it to expand. Do not be a captive to fear. Do not deprive yourself of the magnificent future that is yours for the taking. Just as I come as a sign of the changes which are on their way, so too will others. Watch for them and listen to their message. They will help guide you on your new journey. There are more amazing possibilities that lie ahead than you can possibly imagine. Open your arms and heart and accept them.”

At this point the communication was interrupted but I felt sure possum had more to say. Today I communicated with him again and he delivered the remainder of the message:

“It is good that you consult with me for I have much to share. As I travel through your territory I watch and listen. I see the dark clouds that hang over your homes and even your bodies. Some of you have managed to avoid these clouds. To you I say keep it up. You are on the true path to well being. To those who are living under the clouds I say rise up and look beyond the clouds. There is ample opportunity for you if you take the time to seek it out. Do not let anyone else write your life story. It is totally in your hands. Even though you may at times feel despair, do not give into it. Always seek out the silver lining and keep your eyes firmly focused on it. Do not allow the black clouds to become your reality. As you focus on the silver lining it will expand and eventually obliterate the black cloud entirely. This is as it was meant to be. I do not understand why some of you choose to be powerless when you have within you the ability to control your destiny. I will continue watching and listening and hoping that you manage to walk out of the dark clouds into the bright sunshine of tomorrow’s opportunities. Your actions affect my world as well as yours. Choose wisely and live well. I’ll be in the neighborhood if you need to ask me anything else. Toodleoo.”

Do animals reincarnate? Will we see them again?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

This question comes up from time to time when talking with pet owners. I believe, from what they animals have told me, that they do experience many lifetimes. (That doesn’t just apply to cats!) They also, sometimes, come back to us. Not always, as they have their own paths to explore which will not always include us, but sometimes. Recently a reader posed the question “When will I see my beloved cat again, and how will I know?” Here is what the animals say about reincarnation:

If it is your desire to experience that particular cat’s energy again, and the cat is in agreement, then it will return to you. With both of you desiring this outcome, events will occur to bring you together. Be open and flexible and the opportunity for your paths to cross will come.

When you meet your beloved cat in a new incarnation you will have an energetic draw. You may notice something in the eyes. There may be similar mannerisms. Each time is different. Just be at peace knowing that it is possible and likely you will see your cat again.

Update on the little poodle

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Nyla, the four-year-old poodle who went to live with the giant horses continues to thrive. She loves to sit on her new “mom’s” lap and has settled into the family routine as if she always lived there.

Daily she rides out on the quad to feed and visit the horses. Initially suspicious of these giant creatures, she has developed quite the friendship with the smallest horse, a thoroughbred. He seems to enjoy her company as well. He will often leave some of his feed for her to clean up and stand back while she enjoys the scraps. Nyla being very clever quickly learned which horses were willing to share.

One day she uncharacteristically began barking at the herd as they came down the hill to eat. Her guardian was curious what that was about so in a followup communication session I asked her how she felt about the horses and why the barking:

NYLA: “They’re not so bad after all. But does that one big guy think he’ s a dog? He keeps sniffing after me like he thinks I’m in heat. I sure hope he doesn’t think he can breed me. Please explain to him that we are different species and are not meant to mix. I’ll be able to breathe much easier if he backs off.”

“I like visiting with them if the visits are brief. But they were taking too long to come down to eat and I wanted them to hurry up so I could go back to the cozy cabin with my mom. I wasn’t mad at them, just trying to help out. I think mom and Jocelyn appreciated it because they were cold and surely must have wanted to go back inside with me.”

Her guardian reports that the youngest stallion is indeed quite fascinated with Nyla and always wants to sniff her. She has explained to him that he needs to go slower and give Nyla time to adjust. We expect they will become great friends, like with the thoroughbred, as they get better acquainted.

Nyla has been in her new home for ten weeks and her progress has exceeded expectations. Her guardians and I are delighted that she has turned out to be the perfect dog they were seeking.

Law of Attraction: Finding The Perfect Dog

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Five months ago we lost our dog, Joshua. He was a huge part of our family’s lives for fourteen wonderful years. Since then we’ve talked about getting another dog, we even visited a humane society adoption day. They had some lovely dogs but it was too soon.

I’ve always wanted a standard poodle and, coincidentally, one became available on our local Freecycle. He wasn’t getting along with his pack mates, and to restore peace, his owner reluctantly decided to rehome. Out of all the responses, and there were many, she chose me! I was convinced this was Law of Attraction in action, and just days after I had put out the desire.

My almost new dog.

My almost new dog.

Before meeting in person, I had an animal communication session with him. It turned out he had a very high opinion of himself and a very low one of his pack mates. He showed me pictures of them as a bunch of hound dog mutts. Imagine my surprise when I found out from his owner that they were all in fact poodles . . . far from mutts! I explained to him during another communication session that they were every bit as special as he and he needed to treat them with respect. We chatted about the situation and he agreed to make an effort.

When I finally met him in person some weeks later his owner reported that his behavior had improved. Observing him it was obvious that he was quite bonded and should stay right where he was, if at all possible. He very clearly let me know that, while I was nice enough, I wasn’t his “mom.” Later I had another communication session with him and explained that he could stay right where he was, it was up to him. Since then he continues to do well, and harmony has been restored to the pack.

During my visit one of the other male poodles totally charmed me and removed any doubt that I was ready for a dog. He intuitively felt my grief (over losing Joshua) and leaned his body against mine filling me with healing energy. I had a thoroughly delightful time with him and the healing he freely bestowed upon me was incredibly restorative.

So now I’m looking for my “perfect” dog in earnest. I’ve decided to put my strong, clearly defined request out to the universe (Law of Attraction) and “allow” the right dog to cross my path. I don’t really care about color, although I do like silver, and I want a natural tail. I’d like a young, healthy, adult (six or under) so that we can have many years together. Sex is not important, but I’d like a gregarious personality.

My dog should enjoy romping with my husband, accompany me on treks into the woods, and enjoy sitting quietly together of an evening being petted. He/She should be smart and lively, but able to remain calm when appropriate. My dog will enjoy our horses but not act aggressively towards them. He/She will function as my ears, alerting me to visitors and activity outdoors, but will politely greet visitors.

I’m visualizing spending time with my new dog. I can feel how wonderful it is to have that special companionship again. I’m doing my part and I expect the universe will deliver, it’s just a matter of perfect timing.

Animal Communication: Do dogs protect children?

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

After my communication with horses on this topic, I wanted to know what dogs had to say about it. I have personally known dogs who absolutely looked after children, even to their own detriment. I must say I was somewhat surprised by what the dogs had to say on the topic:

“There are some among us who, like people, have a special affinity for children. They take special care with children. But not all of our species has this affinity. Others would rather not be bothered. They feel it is not their responsibility to look after other creatures’ young. Some of us have more empathy and compassion than others. It is truly an individual preference. We say when in doubt, it’s best to carefully supervise your young around us.”

During our communication, the dogs reminded me that being predators they had quite a different perspective from horses, who are prey animals. Their caution to carefully supervise our young around them is sensible and the sentiment expressed, very generous on their part.

With this understanding I am even more touched by the generosity of spirit of those dogs who are the exceptions. One of those exceptional canines, deserving of tribute, completed his earthly journey this year.

Henry, was just seven, but he packed a lot of living into those years. He was best friend to Jill, and vigilant protector of Ryan, her autistic son. Henry patiently tolerated Ryan’s rough handling and even tried to fetch him back for Jill when he wandered too far away. He was always there ready to help in any way that he could.

Henry

Beautiful Henry, gone, but never forgotten.

Unquestionably, Henry was irreplaceable, but with an empty space in her heart and home, Jill welcomed young Jack, an Irish Setter. He surely has big footprints to step into. Happily he seems ready and willing to be another canine exception in his attitude towards Ryan and they have become fast friends.

Jill says that although Henry and Jack have very different spirits, one trait they have in common is looking you straight in the eye. She captured that beautifully in the picture below:

Why do horses let us ride them?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Congratulations to Sher in Ohio who submitted the winning question above and will receive a free Pet Chatter Animal Communication consultation. Be sure to submit your intriguing question for a chance to win next month’s free communication. Simply click the link above right “Sign Me Up” to access the entry form.

It was certainly a thought provoking question and made me wonder what the horses would have to say on the matter. As it turns out, they had more to say than I expected. From the collective consciousness of the horses here is the explanation:

There are many reasons, but first and foremost, they see it as their job.

As young ones grow and see older ones being ridden they grow up with the idea that this is a part of growing up and not unlike human children they emulate their parents or other adults. They see it as a rite of passage and look forward to the day they will be grown up enough to be entrusted with a rider. Barring any physical discomforts or bad experiences, they will continue with the attitude that it is a privilege and a normal part of their lives. Some of them grow to quite enjoy spending time with their rider, going on excursions together. Those lucky ones develop a strong bond with their rider and truly experience the joy that relationship can bring.

The unlucky who do not enjoy that relationship see it as a job, something to be endured. Not particularly unpleasant but not how they’d prefer to spend their time. They see it as payment for the upkeep and so they tolerate it.

Some unlucky ones have been so broken in spirit that they are numb to life and simply exist.

Then there are others who due to pain issues or bad experiences look at it as an adversarial relationship. They will do everything in their power to avoid being ridden.

Sadly, there are far too many horses who fit the latter categories. However, I know there are also many who have wonderful relationships with their guardians and enjoy their time together. Please feel free to share your anecdotes by clicking the comments link below this post.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Mystery Swelling on Thoroughbred

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Overnight Rusty, an eight-year-old Thoroughbred, developed a very strange swollen spot at his navel. There was no evidence of injury, just the swelling. He was too upset from discomfort to communicate, so I decided to monitor the situation before deciding upon a course of treatment.

Hours later the swelling had extended along his underside past the midline. Now there was heat and tenderness and the area around his navel had swollen so that it looked like two testicles! One of the most bizarre things I’ve seen. Since he has an outie, my mind leapt to scary thoughts of a ruptured umbilicus. He loves to romp and maybe he strained himself? I put those thoughts aside and decided to focus on a less frightening cause, like an insect bite.

Pet Chatter Rusty Belly

Swelling from navel to midline.

I cold hosed him, then liberally applied clay to all the swollen areas. I administered a natural antibiotic remedy orally and another mixed with his feed. This routine continued, minus the oral antibiotic, for 12 days.

Pet Chatter Rusty Testicles

Testicle-like swelling at navel.

The swelling along the midline was totally resolved within three days. At seven days the “testicles” were hugely reduced and the heat was gone. By day ten the “testicles” had disappeared. I continued the treatment for two more days just to be sure. Whatever it was has totally resolved.

Pet Chatter Rusty

Rusty back to normal.

Have you seen anything like this? What was your experience? Please feel free to share ideas and your experiences by clicking the comments link below.
